first_imgFormer India wicket-keeper Saba Karim was, on Saturday, appointed as the General Manager, Cricket Operations by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).On Saturday, BCCI CEO took to Twitter to announce Saba Karim’s appointment and said that he looked forward to working with him.”Saba Karim will assume office from January 1, 2018 and will report to Johri and assist him in meeting Board’s vision and strategy,” BCCI said in a statement.”Some of Karim’s responsibilities will include giving strategic direction to the cricket department, implementing the operational plans, budgeting, determining and monitoring the compliance of match playing regulations, standards of venues, administration of Domestic Program,” the statement [email protected] announces Saba Karim as the new GM Cricket Operations – Welcome Onboard, look forward to working with you.- Rahul Johri (@RJohri) December 23, 2017Saba Karim is a former wicket-keeper batsman for India and has played a total of one Test match and 34 ODIs along with 124 List ‘A’ matches.In a career spanning 18 years, Karim played 120 first class games first for Bihar and then Bengal, where he amassed 7000 runs, including 33 half centuries and 22 hundreds.Karim suffered a right eye injury during an Asia Cup match in Bangladesh, following which he underwent a surgery and his career ended prematurely.Karim has also served a term as the national selector from the East Zone in 2012.Currently, India are playing a three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka, which they have won after beating the islanders in the first two games.India won the first T20I in Cuttack by 93 runs and beat Sri Lanka in the second T20I at Indore by 88 runs.advertisementIndia will play their last match (T20I) of 2017 on Sunday in Mumbai after which they are scheduled to leave for South Africa for a full-fledged series of three Tests, six ODIs and three T20s, starting January 5, 2018.last_img read more
